What I offer:
Psychodynamic Counselling
.
Parent/Carer Consultation and Assessment
I provide weekly counselling sessions that last for 50 minutes. After an initial phone conversation if you would like to go forward we would arrange an initial appointment. This provides an opportunity for us to meet and begin to develop an understanding of your story – what you may be finding difficult and what you are hoping from counselling. We will also think together about the frequency and likely duration of sessions, tailored to your individual needs and circumstances.
Psychodynamic counselling offers a quiet, confidential space where you can think and talk openly about your experiences. It’s a space to pause, reflect, and begin to make sense of what may feel confusing or painful.
How our early relationships and experiences shape who we are – often without us realising it, in unconscious ways. Patterns in how we think, feel and relate to others can have roots in the past, even when they don’t seem connected. These early influences can shape how we respond to challenges, how we see ourselves and how we connect with others.
In counselling we can begin to explore these links together and understand how your past might still be influencing your present life.
As you begin to tell your story and reflect within the therapeutic relationship, you may find new insight and understanding emerging. This process can at times be challenging but in time can help ease emotional pain, reduce distress and create space for growth and change.
Over time, therapy can help you develop a deeper sense of who you are, uncover patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and find new ways of relating — both to yourself and to others.
With children, this often includes creative or play-based methods to help them express what may be hard to put into words. It helps them make sense of emotions that may feel confusing or overwhelming, supporting greater self-awareness and emotional balance. Over time, this process can build confidence, resilience, and a stronger sense of wellbeing.
I offer consultation to parents (birth and adoptive) kinship carers and foster carers. Consultation offers a thoughtful and compassionate way to support a child’s emotional development. It provides insight into the deeper meaning behind a child’s behaviour and emotional responses, helping to strengthen understanding and your relationship with your child/young person.
